WIN Living Well in Community Update

Posted 23 May 2017

WIN Living Well in the Community has successfully reached its first full year of operation and we would like to share some of the numbers of people helped in this time. Our service was designed to help the socially isolated and lonely residents of Stockport reconnect with their community in a meaningful way. Our focus has been to work with people who would find this difficult to do themselves for reasons related to disability, mobility, mental health issues or have a caring responsibility. We have also focused on help for people who are older and suffering from social isolation and loneliness.

Over the last 12 months we have worked with over 1,200 individuals across a diverse range of wants and needs. We have helped people engage in a range of social and physical activities. We have worked to help find volunteering opportunities and also helped with employment related issues, return to work discussions with employers as well as help with CV’s and covering letters. We have helped set up peer support groups and creating sustainable networks of support for people in similar situations. This has also been provided for the specific caring community through partnership and innovation.

We have worked with imagination and passion and we can truly say we have managed to help every person who has come to our service. Regardless of the barriers people have faced we have been there to encourage them to take steps forward and we hope to continue to support the needs of Stockport residents into the future.
