New Social Prescribing Peer Support For Greater Manchester

NHS England has committed to making social prescribing link workers available to people in every GP practice across England, and to increasing the number of link workers in primary care over the next five years. Stockport GP practices have this in place.

WIN are involved in the New Social Prescribing Peer Support workshops in Greater Manchester. The Workshops are delivered by Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership and the University of Salford and are aimed at new Primary Care Network Social Prescribing Link Workers as well as existing link workers from established schemes, like WIN

These Workshops bring together individuals from various organisations, who have a Social Prescribing role, the aim being to support with the growth and development of an already emerging Peer Support Network in Greater Manchester. They provide an opportunity for link workers and wider social prescribing teams to connect.

This week’s workshop enabled link workers to share good practice and generate ideas in relation to work-related challenges and included training, around managing challenging conversations, from experienced mental health professional's.
