WIN in the community supported Gary on a number of separate occasions over an eight month period. Gary had been suffering for some time with symptoms of anxiety, which had led to him feeling unable to leave his home.
Gary received support to attend walking football sessions, which included setting up transport to and from the venue. He also had support to see his GP, which resulted in a medication change, and register with a dentist.
When he received information concerning his benefits Gary was signposted to the relevant service for specialist advice and support from our colleagues at Signpost.
Meeting recently with Gary, he seemed like a different person from the one we first met. He felt like he had made positive steps to improve his well being and was now ‘thinking more clearly’ and looking forward to future events in his life.
Gary’s support hasn’t come to an end. He is due to start a course of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy which is accessible locally and will be working with our life Coach over the next few months to consolidate his new found approach to addressing those things that make him most anxious.
